The newcomer among the cross-platform frameworks with a historically grown foundation. - Based on the success of Xamarin, Microsoft has developed the modern successor .NET MAUI, which continues to build on the Xamarin platform, but enables a significantly unified and simplified development of apps.
.NET MAUI brings many innovations compared to its direct predecessor Xamarin.Forms that other modern frameworks such as React Native or Flutter have enjoyed for some time.
The modular nature of .NET MAUI enables the development of apps for Android and iOS, but also for the desktop on Windows and maCOS. Furthermore, .NET MAUI can be combined with other frameworks, including for example the web framework Blazor whose components can be directly integrated into a .NET MAUI application similar to React and React Native, or Avalonia UI which was developed as a cross-platform alternative for the old Windows Presentation Foundation and draws controls directly on the display similar to Flutter.
.NET MAUI is still in its infancy in many respects, but it is already shaping up to be one of the most flexible solutions for cross-platform development of computer applications.
